Are Social Problems Worth the Revenue?

Despite arguments and non-supportive counselors, Northern B.C. is a fast passed, growing slot machine community looking to add 500 more slot machines. When the new gambling center is open and has its full capacity of slot machines, Prince George will lead the way in number of slot machines within the B.C. interior.

Though some openly support this new slot machine addition, others bring out the on-going debate many countries are facing—are the slot machines worth the gambling addictions? So far slot machine opponents cite the statistics that show that slot machines are the more additive form of gambling right now. Others though point out that slot machines are not the real issue right now, and that regulation efforts should be focused at online gambling—that’s the real problem according to Councilman Scott.

Basically, considering the new gambling facility is not adding an obscene amount of slot machines, critics are staying relatively low. The new facility will have 500 slot machines while the other casino has 400.  But though the number of additional slot machines in B.C. is low, you can't convince some residents that the new slot machines don't spell doom for gambling addictions and crime.
