Slot Machine Reforms

With slot machine licenses being awarded soon in Pennsylvania, General Assembly leaders plan to address a few issues that have been plaguing slot machine legislature. The assembly plans to work out some of these issue in a series of amendments that would then go for approval through both chambers. In order to gain approval though through both the house and the senate, it might be a wise idea for the assembly to limit the number of proposed reforms—that way there are less items of controversy that would possibly sabotage the slot machine reforms.

Many in the state have debated the issues the reforms will address for months, and now the General Assembly will look at those most important to ensuring workable slot machine laws. According to Senate President Pro Tem Bob Jubelirer, R-Altoona, "The issue is to make Pennsylvania's slots law the very best it can be and ensure integrity on this issue.''

A few of the issues sure to be addressed:
• Smoking in casinos
• Elected officials owning parts of slot machine casinos
• Felony convictions in slot machine casino operators
• Free drinks for gamblers
• Slot machine suppliers as the middle-men between manufacturers and slot machine casinos
• Gaming Board officials gaining employment at casinos
