Pennsylvania’s new slot machine parlors and racetracks
are getting close to being awarded their slot machine licenses. After the state
decided to revitalize the local racetracks with slot machine revenue, plans
have been underway to bring five more slot machine locations to
Pennsylvania.
Of the five racetracks though, The Meadows encountered some issues with
their slot machine revenue predictions. The developers of The Meadows agree
that the if the predictions are off by one million dollars, then the project
isn’t feasible at the projected costs. The developers however are looking at
the location of the slot machine facility and at the amount of patrons who
travel pretty far to play the slot machines in nearby Pittsburgh and
Virginia—based on these numbers the developers are confident that the area
can support the anticipated 1,800 slot machines.
The other locations look like they will have no issues receiving their slot
machine licenses, and it is predicted that the facilities will begin opening
in 2007.
