New slot machine licenses are now becoming even more of
a reality in Pennsylvania. The Gaming Control Board gets the daunting task
of deciding who is worthy of receiving one of the state’s slot machine
licenses. For the next three months, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board
will hold hearings for all of the slot machine applicants.
This means that first up are the slot machine applicants requesting an
“early bird” license—this covers all applications that propose to build
casinos in conjunction with an established racetrack. For example, slot
machine casino are proposed for: Pocono Downs, Chester Downs, Marina and
more. These applicants will present their case first before the board—the
obstacle for them is to prove they are of good character.
Basically, the Gaming Board is looking for potential slot machine casino
operators with desirable attributes: financially stable, strong long-term
business plan, honest with a good reputation, and plans for enhance economic
growth in the surrounding community, and Pennsylvania at large.
After the slot machine casinos in conjunction with racetracks, the Gaming
Board will begin the rest of the applicants applying for stand-alone slot
machine casino licenses.
