Florida Prepares for Slot Machines

Approval of slot machines in Florida means an increase in jobs. Jobs vary from slot machine technicians to misc. restaurant and racetrack workers to handle the increase in customers coming to the racetracks specifically for the slot machines.

The Mardi Gras Racetrack and Gambling Center will be the first location to open for business. The racetrack is currently finishing hiring enough staff to handle the addition of 1,500 slot machines. Later three more pari-mutuels will open slot machines: Pompano Park, Dania Jai Alai, and Gulfstream Park.

Two of these locations will not open slot machines right away due to renovations. Once the renovations are completed though, there are plans to hire enough people to adequately handle the increase in visitors to the locations once the slot machines are open.  And just like the Mardi-Gras racetrack, the opening of more slot machine casinos means that more Floridians will have the chance at the many skilled and unskilled positions necessary to adequately run a casino.
