Delaware Adjusts Slot Machine Predictions

The Delaware River, now home to Harrah’s Chester Facility, opened for horse racing recently, and it is anticipated that the slot machine and gambling part of the facility may open as early as January 2007. Slot machines in nearby Pennsylvania are cause for alarm though—this new slot machine facility is the reason for recent estimated revenue adjustments within the Delaware Economic and Financial Advisory Council.

Anticipated estimates have been changed for a couple of reasons. One reason is definitely due to the nearby slot machines in Pennsylvania and Maryland—with the opening of the new Pa. facility, slot machine gamblers might not travel as far as Delaware to spend their slot machine dollars.

Based on these issues, and the fact that the Delaware location might take as long as March, (although the slot machines have already been purchased), DEFAC members have adjusted the estimated figures to reflect the new slot machine developments.
