The latest development in Pennsylvania—often touted as
a “hotbed for slot machines”—is the Pocono hotel/casino/retail center. This
Casino has been approved for five thousand slot machines in their “complex.”
Now that their license is secured, Pocono can compete with the slot machine
casinos in Philadelphia.
Pocono Manor plans to build a hotel with 750 rooms, and an impressive retail
center that channels the idea of shopping at the Forum shops in Las Vegas.
In addition to these two projects and the slot machine plans, Pocono Manor
will include a state-of-the-art casino that will rival some of the best
casinos in the country.
This new project is expected to cost a whopping one billion dollars—this is
going to pay for the huge square footage and luscious interiors and the huge
amount of slot machines. But as if the casino, hotel/resort and shopping
wasn’t enough, the project includes development on an arena and convention
center. It is anticipated that this will become the Las Vegas of the North
east—and an alternative to the Mount Airy Lodge.
