Jasper City Council Bans Slot Machines

Citing the fact that slot machines that operate under the assumption of chance are illegal in Florida, Jasper City Council passed an ordinance that outlawed the commercial operation of slot machines within the city limits.

The members of the city council felt there was no difference between slot machines that were governed by chance and those slot machines that actually required some sort of skill. They believe that no matter what the slot machine, they will still end up costing the city in terms of crime, gambling addictions and other financial losses.

The ordinance passed in January and will prohibit all slot machines, no matter what kind, to be operated. The following is a list of slot machines that have been included in the ban: Fruit Paradise, New Cherry, Fruit Bonus, Triple Jack, Magical Odds, Mystery J&B, Klondike and Reel of Fortune. Any sort of pinball machine, shooting games, mechanical grab machines, etc. are not included in the ban. Violators will face a stiff penalty with a fine of up to $500 and/or 60 days in the county jail – as well as all court costs
