Atlantic City A Safe Bet?

The government has taken to attacking the slot machine industry lately, especially with the latest from Congress. They have decided to pass the prohibition bill, which will hurt them badly. Also, Atlantic City has been taking a hit with the State’s legislatures and the Governor holding up gambling while they tried to come to a decision on the state budget. During the busiest part of its season, AC was required to shut down for three days, which is fairly catastrophic for them.

What it comes down to is the state government couldn’t figure itself out, and the casinos ended up losing over $4 million dollars. But what about the employees – 36,000 of them – all out of pay for three days. This not only hurts the individual, but it hurts the industry as well as the area itself.

For now, everything seems back to normal, but as Donald Trump pointed out, if this happens again, the value of Atlantic City will drop – as investors want to know their money is in a safe place – and if casinos/ slot machines are getting shut down at all, never mind for three days, they are going to start looking to put their money somewhere else.
