Ohio Slot Machines Tempt Tiny Gamblers

Oklahoma has just had a run in with some illegal slot machine action after the police seized five machines, most of which were located in convenience stores, while one showed up opposite an elementary school. The latter is the one that got the whole chain found out after teachers were placing complaints that their students were losing their lunch money by playing on the slot machine.

This is not the first time the authorities have had their attention brought to the child tempting machine, but in the first occurrence it had been determined to be a game of skill rather then that of a game of chance. The slot machine did not deposit money from the machine itself, but rather, it printed a ticket that showed the amount of points one had accrued while playing the machine. The player then was required to go to the counter and ask for the cash equivalent of the points earned.

The machines have now been put out of commission, but the authorities are still in the process of trying to determine if they are officially the type of slot machines that would be considered illegal or if they are safely in the grey zone of games of skill, in which case, they will not be able to prosecute the owners of the stores in question. However, there will be no question about whether or not the school-children will be allowed to play.  Skill or not, the slot machine type games will be off-limits to the little tikes.
