Pocono Resort Casino A Grand Proposal

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board will be awarding fourteen slots licenses next year, and the owners of Pocono Manor Resort and Spa want to be one of the beneficiaries.  Pocono Manor, which currently is a historic, 247 guest-room resort, spa and country club in the tops of the Pocono Mountains, Pennsylvania, has recently unveiled a project that includes the addition of a slots casino as well as expanding the current property holdings.

Since making their intentions known, opposition to the plan has risen from the like of the Tobyhanna Township, who have started up a movement called the "No Casino Tobyhanna Township".  After starting a website last month to raise awareness of the casino project and give availability to their anti-casino petition (placing objectionable emphasis on the height of the 230 feet tall hotel-casino), Pocono Manor owner, Greg Matzel, struck back with a website of his own late last week.  However, his site contains a downloadable petition in support of the casino, which Matzel hopes visitors will mail to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

According to Matzel, there has been a great deal of misunderstanding about the proposed slots casino - which became apparent at a zoning hearing late last December.  Matzel says the website aims to set the record straight and dispel any misinformation that has been circulating amongst residents in the Pocono region.  With all of the facts presented as an organized whole, Matzel thinks that people will be better able to understand and digest the reality of his project.

The website does indeed share quite a bit of statistics, although they are not quite facts, as of yet.  When finished, the slots casino will be apart of a sprawling resort that will incorporate the two existing golf courses, an interior restaurant promenade, a 60,000 square feet high-end retail shopping plaza, grotto with lakeside views and waterfalls, conference center and ballroom, conference center boardroom, and the world's largest fireplace.
