Reining in the Slot Machines

For the Leonid Chernovetsky, the mayor of Kyiv, the legalization of slot machines in the city could really actually help the gambling addictions and other societal ills the city suffers. Currently, the mayor admits that the city has many illegal slot machines and gambling operations and that these activities currently have very negative influence on the citizens and the crime rates.

But now, Chernovetsky’s plan is allow slot machines and gambling in legal facilities where the mayor can then regulate the practices of the establishment. Though some residents may have a hard time distinguishing the legal slot machines and gambling from illegal slots, the mayor feels that in time, the city can crack down and nearly eliminate the negatives associated with gambling through regulation.

Another key part of legalizing the slot machines considering they already operate within the city: the city can then claim a portion of the slot machines revenue to help off-set the costs of legalizing the machines.

Chernovetsky went on to elaborate why he felt it was so important to regulate the gambling and slot machines. The new plan and facilities will bring an order to the city’s gaming and regulations can then “systemize” the locations and operations of the casinos and facilities. All in all, once Chernovetsky enacts all of his planned regulations on the slot machines, the city will have a much more manageable and profitable system in place.
