PortalVision Could Alter Slot Machines Forever

When you go to the casino, are you addicted to the slot machines? Well lucky for you, it just got a little harder for you to walk away from the slot machines. With the new technology of PortalVision, players will be able to bet on horse racing and switch games all without moving from their slot machines.

The casinos already like the idea of gamblers spending just a little more time on the slot machines because that most definitely means more revenue for them. But casinos are not the only ones who benefit from PortalVision. Part of the draw for racinos across the country will be the possible tie-ins with the horse racing. Many gamers want it all—they want to watch and bet on the horse races, but at the same time they want to spend some quality time at the slot machines. The new platform would enable both by having a separate part of the screen where the casino can offer options to either watch or bet on the horse races—or both!

But watch out because with all these amenities, you may never leave your seat, especially since the new machines would prompt you once you ask to print your ticket to play a different game rather than leave. And for some gamers, just asking the question could send them right back into their chair and playing the slot machines again.

Though PortalVision is not offered in every casino yet, they are testing the product in different markets to ensure that patrons do like the slot machines, and that they are simple and appealing to use. Also an issue though, even though Las Vegas Gaming has applied to the Gaming Board for approval on using PortalVision on their slot machines, many fear that this new platform could make hacking into the slot machines easier—and it could take a few more years to fully work out those kinks.
