Misleading Slot Machines

The Brits could have a tough fight ahead of them now that the government is awarding seventeen additional licenses to operate slot machines. Britain already has a large number of slot machines, parlors, table gaming and other forms of gambling. And even though the Britons display the same predilection toward gambling and slot machines addictions, the government has still chosen to bring in the additional slots.

Many Britons are begging the question, why? Undoubtedly the slot machines bring in huge amounts of revenue for the government, and the local communities, but the gambling addiction is a real problem that many feel is not adequately addressed. Because of the nature of slot machines, they are highly addicting. Unlike other forms of gambling, the slot machines take no skill to operate. Yet even so, the slots patrons often continue playing the machines because they feel “lucky.” For those patrons, just one more spin is going to take them to the jackpot—and when it doesn’t happen they are compelled to continue spending their coins.

Citizens are questioning the government’s decision to bring in the supercasino, and the thousands of additional slot machines. Right now, casinos in Britain are much the same as in the United States and elsewhere, the casino dedicate a huge amount of space to the slot machines because they bring in the most revenue for the casinos—then comes table games. Now it looks like regardless of the prevalence of slot machines and slots parlors in Britain, the government feels that there are enough gamblers to justify bringing in thousands more slots.
