Hilton Hotels Bring in the Slot Machines

The Hilton Hotel Corporation wisely continues to expand its operations beyond merely hotels, and in this case, into slot machines. The Hilton name is certainly recognizable in the resort industry, and once the Buffalo Thunder Resort is finished, they will have one more foothold in the slot machines industry. And this is a done deal. The Pueblo of Pojoaque agreed to partner with the Hilton Hotels Corporation—and then wasted no time in implementing the construction plans for the resort and slot machines casino. It is anticipated that construction will begin as early as this month.

The agreement between the Pueblos and Hilton is favorable for both of the parties involved. The tribe has the opportunity to capitalize on the well established Hilton name and expertise (and this will bring in more slot machines revenue in the long-run), while maintaining ownership of the casino, resort, and the rest of the facilities. And Hilton will run the business—this includes hiring employees for the resorts and slot machines casinos, along with training and other tasks that go into creating a permanent resort and casino.

Hilton and the tribe anticipate that the resort will be open for business in the fall of 2008. Once finished, the resort will feature the slot machine casino, resort, golf course, restaurants, and a luxury spa, among other amenities. The casino will boast 1,200 slot machines and 25 table games. Additionally, the casino will have both a poker room and simulcast wagering.
