Harrah’s Chester Casino is the first of its kind to
open in Pennsylvania since the slot machines were legalized in the state.
Though two racinos have already opened in the state, Chester’s Casino is the
first to boast a permanent finished facility operating slot machines
independently of any racetracks.
But that doesn’t mean that the slot machines and casino didn’t face any
difficulties it’s first few days of operation. On that first day of
operation, some patrons found that a few of the slot machines didn’t work
properly—other’s were unaccustomed to the spacious facility and got a tad
lost. On the whole though patrons didn’t have a lot to complain about.
Patrons came to the facility in Chester in part to admire the brand new
building and accommodations, and to play the large varieties of slot
machines the facility offers. The other racinos offering the slot machines
work from temporary locations that definitely lack the polish of a newly
designed casino built with the sole purpose of accommodating gambling and
slot machines.
Recent buzz from those who have visited the slot machines at the Chester
Casino and Racetrack centers on the novelty of the new facility and the
brand new slot machines. Many speculate that Chester’s will pull business
from nearby casinos in Delaware because of all of the recent publicity.
Others, however, predict that Chester will only see an initial spike in
patrons until the novelty wears off—then patrons will go for convenience and
stay at the casinos closer to home.
