Without TouchPlay Slot Machines, Iowa Drops

With temporary slot machines and already operating in Pennsylvania, the Meadows is not far behind. Like a few of the casinos already operating slot machines, the Meadows will use a temporary facility as a way to bring in slots revenue before the main facility is actually completed. The temporary slot machines are really great for the casinos because they bring in slots players and get to use their revenue to offset the costs of building the casino—and to offset the $50 million each new slot machines location had to pay the state for their slot machines license.

The Meadows isn’t the only one operating the temporary slot machines though—and they are not the only ones considering innovative new designs for the slot machines and for the casino. In addition to the new grandstand and gambling hall (this is where the slot machines will be located), The Meadows is bringing in themes and new names.

But with all of this attention to the slot machines, and the anticipated business the slot machines will bring in as soon as each casino opens, many wonder how the casinos are going to be able to handle the business. Though the casinos have some high profile names attached to them—we’re talking executives who run the major casinos in Las Vegas and across the U.S., the majority of those actually in the casinos operating the slot machines and running the casino at the location will have never had experience in the industry. Does this bode a disaster for the casinos? Probably not, if the temporary facilities are any indication of how the full-functioning casinos will operate—so far there have been no major complications at the casinos as a result of inexperience.
