Kelly Mathis is an attorney for JR Vegas Style Games,
and she is speaking out against the Putnum County Sheriff's office—and it’s
all because of the slot machines. The Sheriffs Office confiscated the slot
machines and now they wont return the machines even on a judges order.
To further complicate this situation, the Sheriff’s Office then filed
criminal charges against JR Vegas regarding the confiscated slot machines.
But according to the Sheriff’s office, the allegations by Mathis that the
criminal charges are bogus is unfounded and untrue. They went on to explain
why they brought up the criminal charges. According to the Sheriff’s Office,
JR Vegas operated an illegal gambling house, and the slot machines were a
part of this illegal operation. The charges associated with that crime is a
third degree felony and misdemeanor.
Mathis though believes differently. “Judge Nichols said return the stuff and
they would not do so. The day before the hearing to answer to the judge why
they did not return (the slot machines) they filed the criminal charges,
solely to cover themselves. I think it’s retaliation because we dared to
challenge them.”
