No Time Off for Slot Machines

Casinos across the nation understand that some slot machines players do not take off holidays, even if it is one of the largest holidays in the U.S. But for the new racetrack and casino, Tioga Downs, they did not anticipate the large crowds on Christmas Day. This being their first year operating the slot machines, they were not entirely sure what to expect—but the draw of the slot machines brought a pleasant surprise for Tioga Downs.

For Tioga Downs, within the first hour of operation on Christmas Day they already had 200 players ready to test their Christmas luck. The racino opened in the afternoon and ran until 2 A.M. and, according to employees, they had a steady stream of players until closing.

And according to some of the slot machines players, they just couldn’t fathom why the casino assumed they would have less business just because of a holiday. After all, a slot machine and gambling addiction does not take time off just because it happens to be a holiday. For others though, the slot machines truly enabled them to relax and enjoy their holiday. All in all, the racino was definitely pleased that the slot machines brought in business, the players were pleased they had a casino to gamble at on the holiday.
