Pennsylvania has spent the last couple of years
planning out a system of effectively handling the large amount of slot
machines the state approved. Over the past year, the Gaming and Control
Board took months to listen to proposals and grant all of the state’s slot
machines licenses. Now that all of the licenses have been awarded,
Pennsylvania will see a dramatic increase in the number of slot machines
operating in the state, and competing with the neighboring states.
And for Delaware, the increasing number of slot machines operating in the
state of Pennsylvania could me a change is needed in their own slot
machines. Currently Delaware successfully operating a limited number of slot
machines at remote locations around the state. Now though their success at
limiting the spread of slot machines across the state could all be for
naught.
The prospect of competition had the Delaware General Assembly concerned
enough to legalize an increase in the number of slot machines operating at
some of the state casinos. On top of the increase in the number of slot
machines, the General Assembly also voted to extend casino hours and
allowing coupons.
But could all of these decisions be a tad rash? Perhaps. No one is positive
just how much business the state will lose because of Pennsylvania’s slot
machines—they could still retain much of their current slots players.
