Wheeling Relocates Slot Machines

There is no doubt about it the Wheeling Island Racetrack and Gaming Center in the Wheeling, West Virginia is one of the fastest growing slot machines facilities in the state. The casino has already undergone two major expansions across the past three years—so this latest expansion makes it number three for the Wheeling Casino. The casino has plans to relocate some of the slot machines beyond just expanding some of their slot machines offerings.

Wheeling Island Racetrack and Gaming Center is owned and operated by Wheeling Island Gaming Inc. which is a subsidy of Sportsystems Corp. This company plans to open the newly relocated casino in May of 2007—which means they certainly do plan a quick turn around turn around. This latest project is estimated at $8 million as 390 of their current 2,400 slot machines will be relocated to the new 16,000 square foot casino located outside if the Ohio River flood plain.

Beyond just relocating the slot machines the new facility will require additional employees to run the large casino. Their approved plans for the new space include a new parking garage, more kitchen space, and a heated walkway to better service their bus guests.
