No Resort Slot Machines for Pennsylvania

Recently Oklahoma has experienced some difficulties in controlling the amount of illegal slot machines operating at establishments other than the casinos. Currently, under Oklahoma state law only the casinos can operate machines that “cash out.” But in Wagoner County, the FBI has stepped in to let officials know that the illegal slot machines that operate at local bars have to be removed immediately.

This is upsetting news for many bar owners who feel that the slot machines they operate cause no real problems for the county, and they scarcely make a dent in the revenue the casinos generate. The establishments that operate the slot machines claim that they only bring in a couple hundred a week—not a big deal when compared to the revenue casinos bring in.

But the local sheriff thinks otherwise. The slot machines they operate are illegal, and that’s all there is to it. Plus with the FBI involved, the county has no choice but to comply immediately. The owners have been given a few weeks to comply, and all agree that they will remove the slot machines from the premises—but they surely aren’t pleased with the order. According to the Sheriff, all bars and non-casinos must be free of the slot machines no later than December 31, 2006.
