The Missouri Gaming Commission considers Missouri a
leader in the slot machines market. They are often the first state to offer
cutting edge slot machines and now may not be any different. Though there is
still some question as to how successful “guaranteed play” slot machines
will be, many casinos believe they will catch on quickly.
“Guaranteed play” slot machines differ from regular slot machines because of
they do not rely on credits. Instead the slots player buys a set number of
plays from the casino—then they take that number of plays, or spins, to the
slot machines and video poker machines. Basically from that point on, the
player cannot lose any more money. Once they begin playing, their credit
meter is $0 and based on their luck they credit meter either increase or
decreases. When they are out of plays, or decide to stop, they can cash in
on the positive credit on the slot machines—but if the credit meter is
negative the player owes nothing.
These new machines will not replace traditional slot machines—they will be
another offering at casinos across the country if International Games
Technology Inc. is successful at marketing these new slot machines. And it
looks like that have been successful at marketing this new concept so far
because the Missouri Gaming Commission may just be hooked on the idea.
