Slot machines are doing well in North America if the
profits from the slots manufacturers are any indication. As non slots states
see the benefits the additional slot machine revenue can bring to the
government and government funded programs, many of the non-slot machines
states are looking into bringing controlled slots legislation that would
bring in a set number of slot machines and the state would get a set
percentage of the slots taxes.
These last elections in November made the slot machine manufacturers pretty
pleased. Even though a few states voted down the slot machines, (like Ohio)
there was support in those states that bodes well for the future of the slot
machines.
Also, the states that already decided to bring in the slot machines have
begun opening their first slots parlors in this fiscal fourth quarter. Both
Pennsylvania and Florida have and are opening many slot machine parlors in
the coming months.
And nobody could be happier about that than shareholders in International
Game technology. According to IGT the had a rise in fourth-quarter profits
and their net income is now higher at $114.9 million. Previously the profit
was less at about $105.4 million.
