Slot Machines Licenses Awarded Soon

The decision on Pennsylvania’s slot machines licenses may just come to an end this December 20th. The Gaming Control Board will hear the final of the companies vying for the slots licenses—and one of the major contenders happens to the Crossroads Gaming Resort and Spa. Crossroads has pans to bring in slot machines near Gettysburg—but there seems to be a fair amount of resistance to the plan, and the Gaming Board will take all of that into consideration before awarding the remaining slot machines licenses.

Crossroads has a counter argument for all of the opposition to the slot machines—but others feel the opposition has a stronger argument. Since early 2005, Crossroads has stood by the claim that a resort and slot machines casino would bring much needed jobs and revenue for the area.

The opposition however, feels that the slot machines and the entire concept of a large casino and resort disrespects the soldiers who died in Gettysburg, and they believe the slot machines will cause a significant decrease in the city’s historical tourism industry.

If the Gaming control Board approves the Crossroads project over the other projects—a $300 million project will be in the works.
