Atlantic City Slot Machines Revenue Up

This is a good year for the slot machines in Atlantic City—revenue is at an all time high for the second year in a row. Many predicted that Atlantic City could see a slight decrease in the slot machines revenue because of the closing of the Sands Casino in September—they thought a dip at the end of the year was a possibility. But the closing seems to have had little effect on the slot machines revenue for Atlantic City as a whole—perhaps the closing just displaced gamers rather than discouraging them from playing the slot machines.

For the first time, Atlantic City boasted revenues totaling $401.6 million—and that is thanks to the 1.6 percent increase in slot machines revenue from last November. Many of the casinos in Atlantic City reported double digit increases in the percent of slot machines revenue this year. Some of the top earners this year: Trump Marina, Atlantic City Hilton, and Caesars.

Not all of the casinos though reported the increase—both the Showboat and the Trump Taj Mahal reported slots revenue lower than many others in Atlantic City. But that doesn’t mean those casinos are concerned—Trump Entertainment reports that the casinos are right on target for where they anticipated them this year.
