TouchPlay is a small business company that operates the
TouchPlay lottery machines. These machines are very akin to the slot
machines that are legal in other states, but not yet legal in Iowa. Last
year the Republican controlled government voted to eliminate the slot
machines type devices—and needless to say, that didn’t sit very well with
TouchPlay.
As a way to unite the support of the slot machines type devices, TouchPlay
is uniting with a group called the Revenues for Main Street Iowa. This group
is a way for the company, and other small business that feel
underrepresented to show their support for the candidates that show support
for small businesses. This group aims to unite and strengthen the voice of
small business.
The owners of the TouchPlay slot style machines have filed lawsuits as a way
to have their voice heard—but according to the owners, the Republicans in
power have stood in the way of any of their possible settlements. It appears
that the group would not have gone on to sue the state had the Republicans
not stopped the settlement that TouchPlay feels they more than deserve.
Though the Democrats did show support for the settlement, the group says
that is merely coincidental as to why they are showing support for the
Democrats during the upcoming elections. They support those who best
represent and support the interest of small businesses." slot machines
