Slot Machine Gaming in PA Begins

Pennsylvania began the quest toward slot machines operating in the state over two years ago, and now Mohegan Sun slots parlor is due to open its doors this week. Two years ago the state of Pennsylvania made the move toward slot machines by legalizing 61,000 slots—as a result of this legalization, many predict that Pennsylvania will surpass other states and soon become the state operating the most slot machines in the nation. Currently many of the state and Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board approved slot machine casinos are finishing their construction. Mohegan sun anticipated approval from the Gaming Control Board though and was ready to order the slot machines as soon the received the Boards approval.

Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs was one of the first slot machine casinos to receive their slot machines license, and as a test run of the temporary slot machine casino operating at Mohegan Sun, the casino invited 15,000 patrons to the test run. This test run is ran smoothly according to the spokesman for the Gaming Control Board, Doug Harbach. According to the spokesman, patrons were already hitting jackpots on the slot machines which indicates that the computers within the slot machines are operating effectively.

As the first of the 14 anticipated openings over the next year or so, it bodes well for the future slot machines casinos that Mohegan Sun did not run into any difficulties at its trial run. Though there is a lot of ancillary slot machine legislature still up in the air, the casinos are still able to begin their operations regardless of the slot machine middlemen debate.
