There’s no doubt about it, the Muslim community is
fully supportive of the slot machine ban the government is trying to pass.
The slot machines gambling ban will both ban slot machines across the
country as well as address the way that other forms of gambling are handled
in the country. The lottery may be affected as well once the legislation

According to Prime Minister Patrick Manning, not only are slot machines
being targeted, but he plans to “phase-out” the lottery as well. And
citizens largely agree with his new agenda. ASJA president Yacoub Ali felt
that these latest efforts are a positive way for Muslims to move forward and
leave behind the gambling and slot machine addictions. According to Ali,
“Mankind is not according to the Islamic faith to participate in such

Ali went on to voice his approval of Manning’s plan to eventually eliminate
the lottery machines which are extremely similar to the slot machines
currently under scrutiny. Ali feels that the slot machines currently bring
crime and addictions to the country and that without the slot machines the
country will benefit from a decrease in crime, drugs, and poverty due to
slot machine and gambling additions.
Additionally, Ali went on to state, “I think, as ASJA president, the measure
should be applauded. Gambling and forms of intoxicants offend the tenets of
the Islamic faith and other faiths as well. Mankind is not permitted to
participate in such games.”
Though slot machines are growing exponentially around the world, some
communities are taking a proactive stance toward this growth and the
societal ills often associated with the slot machines. The Muslim community
