First Vegas Slot Machines in Florida!

Gulfstream Park makes headlines today as the first track in Broward County to open its slot machines to the general public. Since the legislation passed allowing Las Vegas style slot machines at selected racetracks in Broward County, the racetracks have been prepping for the slot machines, and the jobs, tourism, and revenue the slot machines will bring to the state.

Las year, Broward County voters approved the Class III slot machines at pari-mutuel venues like the racetracks. Since that time, four racetracks have been prepping for the machines, Dania Jai-Alai, Isle of Capri Racino at Pompano Park Harness track, Mardi Gras Racetrack and Gaming Center, and the Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino.

Now that Gulfstream Park has pushed ahead of the other tracks in development time to build the slot machines parlor and casino part of the establishment (known as a racino—racetrack and casino) Florida residents and tourists alike no longer have to travel to Las Vegas to experience the machines that birthed the term “one-arm bandits.”

Gulfstream Park president Paul Micucci voiced those sentiments as well, ''after months of anticipation it's come to an end. People get the chance to play the first real slots in Florida.'' He went on to elaborate, ''Once everyone hears about us, they'll come back many, many times.''

The casino will open with an invitation only gala to be considered its soft opening, then once the press for the slot machines casino and racetrack begin, the racino will open its doors to all patrons. Though the racino can have as many as 1,500 slot machines on site, the racetrack and slot machines parlor is starting with 516 slot machines with plans to increase that number as time progresses. Slot machines spread throughout the world.
