Pennsylvania's First Slots to Open

Pocono Downs announced that it will have fully operating slot machine gambling ready for gamers in less than a month. This is particularly exciting for all those gamers who anticipated a longer turn around time for the new slot machine casinos. Considering the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has many more slot machine licenses to grant, some find it exciting that those racetracks already granted licenses have started development in full-force.

Pocono Downs was one of the first racetrack casinos to be granted a slot machine license by the Gaming Board in early September, and The Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs will be the fist slot machine gaming site open in the state. The Mohegan Indian tribe has already spent millions of dollars getting the “racino” (racetrack/casino) ready and the first shipment of slot machines has already arrived. The casino will be equipped with over 1,000 slot machines, a specific gambling floor, food areas, a bar.

And true to the intention, the racetrack and casino operators anticipate that the slot machines will bring needed business to the slump racetracks have experienced in recent years.
