Nevada Casinos Double Last Years Winnings

Compared to August of 2005, August 2006 is up a decent percent of winnings for Nevada. There are a few factors for this increase from last year, namely though the slot machines within casinos are still generating a large percentage of the winnings. The Vegas strip in particular saw a significant increase, a whopping 14.3 percent! But as much as slot machines are keeping the casinos in business other areas—and they have slot machines too—are seeing a decline in winnings compared to last year.

Reno in particular, and Lake Tahoe showed a decline and not surprisingly the slot machines aren’t the cause, theses machines are still doing well, the dice players and other table games are blamed for the decrease. Surprisingly, downtown Las Vegas is down 14.3 percent, which seems to be a trend in recent months.

Basically it comes down to the fact that slot machines are a huge par of the gambling industry, and for August they represented over $726 million dollars out of the $1.06 billion in August winnings. So though some areas drop below expected winnings, suffice to say that as long as the slot machines are doing well, the casino is still making money hands over fist.
