If you were to do a search on Claude Halcombe, you will hardly come up with anything except that he is the author of the well-known book, Slot Smarts: Winning Strategies at the Slot Machines. The reason being is that "Claude Halcombe" is actually as pseudonym for someone who does not want to reveal their true identity. And considering some of the insider secrets that "Halcombe" reveals, it was probably a wise choice for this author to go unrecognized. One thing is for certain though: The true author of Slot Smarts is someone who has close relationships with casino bosses and executives in the slot machine and casino industry. Although this book is little over 150 pages long, all sixteen chapters are packed full of strategy and mathematics. Of all the top-selling slot machine strategy books on the market, this one probably is the most heady and complex. However, if you take your time learning the thoroughly explained information, it is not paramount that you be a number cruncher. The real intent of the book it seems, is to help gamblers balance their financial goals with their gambling tendencies. By no means does it guarantee that anyone is going to make a living off of playing slots. Neither does it encourage everyone to play slots. This book, rather, gives gamers several points to think about and answer for themselves, such as defining one's financial goals and knowing what type of gambling environment is most conducive to one's comfort. Halcombe profiles personality types that should simply avoid gambling to begin with and warns players on how not to become an irresponsible "chaser" of riches. He explains his "Rule of 80", which states that 80% of gamblers can expect to lose 80% of their money playing slot machines. But he also explains how you can get yourself into the 20% of players who win more money more often. As you get deeper into the book, an increasingly deeper look is given to a money management and slots gambling strategy the author has conceived, which from other players feedback who have tried the strategy themselves, appears to work fabulously. The contents of Slot Smarts includes information about which casinos and slot machines are the best to play, using tools to distinguish between slot machines that look similar but deliver different chances of winning, and a series of what Halcombe calls "Work Plans". Starting in Chapter Twelve, readers are introduced to four different work plans discussed in detail over the next four chapters. They are essentially four different strategies implementing different levels of risk and gain. The first, called the Green Plan, is a capital preservation strategy; The second is called the Silver Plan, and is a low to moderate risk and gain strategy; The third is called the Gold Plan, and is an elevated risk and high gain strategy; The last work plan is called the Emerald Plan, and is a high risk and high gain strategy. Having four different strategies in a single book is priceless, for it gives players the option of using the slots strategy best suited to their comfort level and bankroll size. Halcombe also shares with players a very helpful spreadsheet that can be used to track future gambling sessions. Overall, this book is a priceless read for anyone who desires to learn slot machine strategy, and who is serious about their slot machines. If you can stand to bear with what at first may be a little "heady", it suffices to say that your patience will pay off with a much greater return at the slots.
