The Best Places to Find Loose Machines

In previous articles, we discussed loose slot machines, and whether these can be found more readily at certain casinos.  We also discussed what makes a slot machine more loose than others, as well as pay and take cycles.  All things considered, it is safe to say that it is the payout percentage that ultimately determines how much a machine pays back - and that it is the casino operator who has control over this payout percentage, so long as it meets the minimum requirements imposed by the gaming regulation body of its jurisdiction.  It is also reasonable to say that, yes, casinos often set certain machines to payout more.  The objective should then be where to find these "looser" slot machines.

In considering the above, it is thought that casino owners will place looser slot machines in high traffic areas of the casino so that when a big win is hit, many other people will be nearby to see it, thus inspiring them to put their money into the slot machines as well.  High traffic areas where machines can be found are near change booths (which gives players who see a jackpot award while standing in line even more reason to take out more money), on elevated carousels of the gaming lobby floor (which anyone can see from multiple angles in the casino), near snack bars or cafes, and along crosswalks (which are high-traffic areas that people must walk through in order to access other slot banks and aisles.

Another place place in the casino worth looking for loose slot machines, are free-standing slot kiosks that are leased out to slot manufacturers by the casino themselves.  These are common in large casinos, such as Bally's, and sometimes are known for having a few more loose machines, since they are not bound by the dominion of the casino.  Rather, it is the manufacturers who set the payouts on these (which are still bound by jurisdiction gaming laws).  So, next time you are in the casino and decide you want to take a few spins on the reels, always stake out the high traffic areas first, and see if you can find an available seat.
