Protecting Your Slot Machine

When playing slot machines in a land-based casino, there are a few things that you should always keep in mind.  The first thing you should always do is to never leave your seat while you still have your winnings in the machine or have not printed out your new slot ticket.  Even if the machine malfunctions and a slot attendant is needed, do not leave the machine to fetch someone.  Rather, press the call button or wait to flag somebody down.  It is not totally uncommon for a machine to run out of money while it is paying out.  Do not panic if this happens to you.  Call an attendant and wait.  Be sure not to play the machine until the full payout is received, because by doing so, you may erase any proof of your win.

Another thing to check on is your slot comp card.  First of all, if you are playing slot machines, you should be using a comp card.  It is free to use, and is a great way to rack up comp points and free offers from the casino.  That being said, it is a good practice to periodically check the machine you are playing to insure you card is registering the comp points you are rightfully earning.  The reason is because slot machines are sometimes known for losing connection with comp cards.

Of course there are many myths out there about slot machines.  One of the biggest myths is that a good strategy is an infallible way to always win money.  And although there are certain ways of picking out the most loose machines offering the best payout percentages, gamblers should always keep in mind that playing slot machines is always a game of chance.  Do not expect to win every time, because if you do, only frustration and negative feelings will result.  Instead, always remember to play it safe and gamble in moderation.
