| The Republican Take on Slot Machines |
|---|
DiMasi is caught in bed with out-of-state slot machine heavy hitters, and is being blamed for misrepresenting his views in order to please the individuals who have donated to his campaign with the funds reaped from their slot machines. The Massachusetts House Speaker is falling further and further from the image that he so vehemently portrayed of being a morally conscious Republican, who harshly fought against the legalization of slot machines in the state for what he claimed were moral and social reasons. It is not surprising that slot machine big guns in Rhode Island would pay such good money for DiMasi to kill the Massachusetts slot machine bill, because annually, Massachusetts citizens currently drop 3.4 million dollars on the slot machines of their neighboring ocean-side state. And DiMasi is not the only politician rumored to have received some of this persuasive slot machine money from out of state. “The Republican party needs to do their homework before they cast stones,” a DiMasi campaign insider was quick to point out. “By their accusations, the Republican Party would suggest that Mitt Romney and Kerry Healey and a host of other Republican elected officials are all for sale.” Some might just criticize the poor job that DiMasi did at maintaining a low profile on the issue, given the fact that corruption has become a given in the current political state.
