Introduction to Progressive Slots

Progressive slot machines offer the largest jackpots in the casino.  And anyone who has ever stepped foot into a casino with the intention of winning money cannot say they have not thought about winning the "Big One" at a slot machine.  I would even go so far to say that everyone who has thought about winning it big, has tried their luck at least once.

Winning the big progressive jackpot is like winning the lottery.  However, in all actuality, you have a better chance of getting hit by a car or struck by lightning that winning the huge jackpot that will make you rich and change your life.

So why then do progressive slot machines continue to draw so many people to keep playing them despite these odds?  Well, the reality behind it is that although the odds of winning the big jackpot are quite large, there are certain types of progressive machines that still pay out sums of money that anyone would be happy with.  They may not be the "Big One", but they are worth the fun and excitement that playing slot machines can create.

Anybody who plays slot machines needs to not only know what to expect when playing certain progressive machines, but needs to also have realistic expectations.  And if you did not know already, not all progressive machines are the same.  Depending on the type of progressive slot machine (there are three of them) your payout percentage and odds of winning will vary.  Of course it is perfectly fine to try your luck at one of the giant jackpots, just be sure to only put aside a small portion of money that you are perfectly comfortable blowing.  However, if you want to incorporate some strategy into playing progressives, there are certain machines you should gravitate to - Stand Alones and In House Progressives (Please see the following articles for descriptions on the three types of progressive slot machines, including the two mentioned above).
